Børge Mogensen (1914–1972) was a central figure in Danish modernism and known for his simple, functional and human approach to furniture design. He trained as a cabinetmaker and later a furniture architect, and his work stemmed from the idea of furniture as practical tools for everyday life. Mogensen collaborated closely with the strong Danish manufacturers of the time and developed furniture in natural materials such as oak, teak and leather. His designs from the 1940s to the 1970s are today highly regarded for their quality, durability and timeless form.
Fredericia Furniture (Fredericia Stolefabrik), established in 1911, originally manufactured the frame for this piece of furniture, which we now offer restored and reupholstered. In the mid-20th century, the factory was known for its production with a particular focus on craftsmanship, solid woods, and meticulous finishing. Many of Børge Mogensen's most acclaimed pieces of furniture were produced here and are characterized by solid constructions and high-quality materials. This is precisely why the original vintage editions from Fredericia are sought after today.
