About the designer
Arne Jacobsen (1902–1971) was one of Denmark's most influential architects and designers. He worked from a modernist approach, where form and function merged into a light and sculptural aesthetic. Jacobsen's furniture from the 1950s and 1960s – including the Series 7, the Ant, the Swan, and the Egg – were created for specific architectural projects and were technical breakthroughs, both in design and material utilization. The original editions from that period are now coveted design icons because they combine innovative design with a quality that still stands strong.
About the producer
Fritz Hansen, founded in 1872, originally produced the frame for this piece of furniture, which we now offer restored and reupholstered. In the mid-20th century, the factory was one of Denmark's most significant producers of molded wood furniture and later upholstered furniture. Production was characterized by craftsmanship, robust materials, and high uniformity in construction.
