About the designer
Børge Mogensen (1914–1972) was a central figure in Danish modernism and known for his simple, functional and human approach to furniture design. He trained as a cabinetmaker and later a furniture architect, and his work stemmed from the idea of furniture as practical tools for everyday life. Mogensen collaborated closely with the strong Danish manufacturers of the time and developed furniture in natural materials such as oak, teak and leather. His designs from the 1940s to the 1970s are today highly regarded for their quality, durability and timeless form.
About the producer
Fredericia Furniture (Fredericia Chair Factory), founded in 1911, originally produced the frame for this piece of furniture, which we today offer restored and reupholstered. In the mid-20th century, the factory was known for its production with a special focus on craftsmanship, solid woods, and meticulous processing. Many of Børge Mogensen's most acclaimed pieces of furniture were produced here and are characterized by solid constructions and high-quality materials. It is precisely for this reason that original vintage editions from Fredericia are highly sought after today.
