Coffee tables by Børge Mogensen
Børge Mogensen created a series of simple and functional coffee tables that still stand as classics in Danish design. At KLASSIK you will find original Børge Mogensen coffee tables in solid wood such as oak, teak, mahogany and rosewood – often with the characteristic clean lines and solid materials that make them timeless. All tables are original vintage furniture from the 1950s-1970s and appear either in beautiful patinated condition or carefully restored by our carpentry workshop. A Mogensen coffee table is both a functional piece of furniture and an investment in Danish design history.
The story behind
Børge Mogensen (1914–1972) had a special ability to combine functionality with aesthetics – an approach that is also clearly expressed in his coffee tables. His designs were characterized by the desire to create furniture for everyday life – solid, practical and beautiful in their simplicity.
Among his coffee tables are several models that have become sought-after classics. They are designed with a focus on ease of use and longevity and made from materials such as oak, teak, beech, rosewood, walnut and mahogany – often with thoughtful details such as a folding function or wicker.
The design and materials
Børge Mogensen's coffee tables are created with function at the center. Both crafted in solid wood and veneer - with clean lines and natural surfaces that age gracefully. Several of the tables have a folding function, which makes them flexible in use - ideal for both small and large rooms.
The materials include mahogany, walnut, oak, rosewood, beech and teak – and in some cases wicker shelves or bench elements, which underpin the functional aesthetics. Both the design language and finish testify to Mogensen's respect for craftsmanship and materials.
Well-known models within Børge Mogensen coffee tables:
BM 5362 – Coffee table with flaps
Designed in 1963 and originally created for Børge Mogensen's own home. BM 5362 is a classic, rectangular coffee table with two flaps that can be raised as needed for extra table space. The table was produced in several variants – including oak, walnut, teak and mahogany – and represents Mogensen's sense of function, proportion and craftsmanship. With its simple design and timeless usability, BM 5362 is today considered one of the most iconic Børge Mogensen coffee tables. The model is also available without flaps.
Shaker-inspired tables and benches
Børge Mogensen was inspired by the simple and functional furniture tradition of the American Shaker movement. The result was a series of furniture – including dining tables and benches in solid oak and other types of wood – with an honest, artisanal expression. The tables are characterized by clean lines, removable legs and visible tenons, while the benches often have wicker seats and a light, architectural design. The Shaker series demonstrates Mogensen’s ability to combine functionality, quality and a natural warmth that continues to make the furniture sought after today.
Square coffee tables
Several of Børge Mogensen's coffee tables are based on a square basic shape, made of solid oak with a clear focus on proportions and construction. The tables are characterized by their simple, geometric structure, where function and aesthetics are balanced in a harmonious overall impression. The square tabletops and the solid base give the furniture a calm and balanced character, while the honesty of the materials and visible joints emphasize Mogensen's respect for traditional craftsmanship.
The square tables function both as central coffee tables and as side tables in larger rooms, and they are often made in oak, teak or mahogany. The clean design and stable construction mean that the tables fit naturally into both classic and modern homes - as a functional centerpiece with discreet elegance.

Choosing an original piece of furniture is a sustainable choice. Instead of new production, you give new life to an existing piece of furniture that has already proven its quality over decades. The patina, joints and surface of the wood tell the story of both craftsmanship and time – and it is precisely this authenticity that we want to preserve.

That's why we offer a lifetime guarantee of authenticity on all furniture purchased from KLASSIK – so you can shop with confidence and invest in original design with peace of mind.
