About the designer
Arne Jacobsen (1902–1971) was one of Denmark's most influential architects and designers. He worked with a modernist approach, where form and function merged into a light and sculptural aesthetic. Jacobsen's furniture from the 1950s and 1960s – including the Series 7, the Ant, the Swan, and the Egg – were created for specific architectural projects and represented technical breakthroughs, both in design and material utilization. The original editions from that period are now coveted design icons because they combine innovative design with a quality that still holds strong.
About the producer
Fritz Hansen, founded in 1872, originally manufactured the frame for this piece of furniture, which we now offer refurbished and reupholstered. In the mid-20th century, the factory was one of Denmark's most significant producers of laminated wood furniture and later upholstered furniture. Production was characterised by artisanal precision, robust materials, and high uniformity in construction.
