About the designer
Arne Jacobsen (1902–1971) was one of Denmark’s most influential architects and designers. He worked from a modernist approach, where form and function merged in a light and sculptural aesthetic. Jacobsen's furniture from the 1950s and 1960s – including the Series 7, the Ant, the Swan, and the Egg – was created for specific architectural projects and represented technical breakthroughs, both in design and material utilization. The original editions from the period are highly sought-after design icons today because they combine innovative design with a quality that still stands strong.
About the producer
Fritz Hansen, founded in 1872, originally produced the frame for this piece of furniture, which we today offer refurbished and reupholstered. In the mid-20th century, the factory was one of Denmark's most significant manufacturers of form-pressed wood furniture and later upholstered furniture. Production was characterised by artisanal precision, robust materials, and high consistency in construction.
